The Ecoin Insulation Compression Spring (Mighty Spring) is a heavy-duty insulation compression spring made of stainless steel coil spring engineered to secure thermal insulation blankets over large-diameter industrial equipment. It functions as a constant-tension device accommodating cyclic thermal expansion and contraction of oil tanks, storage vessels, and process equipment subjected to fluctuating operating temperatures.
By maintaining consistent clamping pressure on 19 mm (3/4″) stainless steel banding, the insulation compression spring eliminates re-tightening during service, reducing maintenance labor while extending insulation system service life. The spring is fully compatible with standard 3/4″ wing-seal buckles and banding tools.
Available in SUS 304 and SUS 316 stainless steel, this insulation compression spring meets the performance benchmark of the GLT Compression Mity-Spring — making it a cost-effective direct-replacement alternative for insulation contractors in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

- Constant-Tension Design — Maintains steady clamping pressure as insulation settles or the vessel expands thermally, eliminating loose banding and energy loss.
- Dual Material Option — SUS 304 for standard environments; SUS 316 (with 2–3% Mo) for chloride-rich, marine, or chemical service environments.
- Heavy-Duty 3 mm Wire — ~80 lbs/inch compression rate handles large circumferences and high loads typical of storage tanks ≥4 m diameter.
- Tool-Compatible — Works with standard 3/4″ strapping tensioners, wing-seal buckles, and banding tools; no special tooling required.
- GLT Mity-Spring Replacement — Dimensionally equivalent to GLT Products Compression Mity-Spring #1; a cost-effective direct replacement for insulation contractors.
- Long Service Life — Stainless steel resists rust, stress relaxation, and UV degradation for decades of outdoor industrial service.
- Bolt-Adjust Mechanism — Fine-tune spring gap (1–2 cm recommended) to match thermal expansion of different vessel materials.
- Oil storage tanks (ASTs) — Securing insulation blankets on above-ground storage tanks with diameters of 4 m and above in petrochemical and refinery plants.
- Process vessels — Pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reactors, and process drums in oil & gas, power generation, and chemical processing facilities.
- LNG / LPG cryogenic tanks — Cold insulation systems where thermal cycling causes significant banding contraction.
- Industrial boilers — Hot insulation systems operating above 150°C where vessel expansion is pronounced.
- Large-bore pipelines — NPS 12 and above industrial pipelines with significant thermal movement along their length.
- Marine applications — Ship engine rooms, fuel tanks, and ballast tanks (specify SUS 316 for salt-air environments).
Installation Steps
- Thread Wing Seal Buckle #1 onto the banding strip; pass through one end of the spring box base and lock with the buckle.
- Thread Buckle #2 onto the strip. Wrap banding around the vessel; pass through the other end of the spring base. Tension until spring gap is ~1–2 cm.
- Rotate the adjustment bolt with a wrench to fine-tune tension as required.
Required: 1× banding strip, 1× compression spring, 2× wing-seal buckles, 2× wrenches, safety gloves.
